CC5 Antique undated but circa mid 1930s German large (approx 4" x 2") cigarette card of Elisabeth Louise De Vigee Lebrun famous French artist shown as a magnificent framed portrait and on reverse all about her history (in German language) unused with light imperfections but mostly great condition with vintage character as scan will show.
Today she is generally regarded as the most famous woman painter of the eighteenth century. However, she was unappreciated for many years, not only because of her association with the unpopular ancien regime, but also due to the fact that she competed in a field largely dominated by male artists and their patrons.
