CHAU3358 Antique 1957 letter from James Paterson Ross, historic surgeon to Queen Elizabeth II sent from his official headed paper at the Royal College Of Surgeons Of England to Doctor Elston Grey Turner which this forms part of his private collection (see below) who has written the letter fully in hand and hand signed it at the bottom of the letter. Careful research shows he may have been Winston Churchill's medical advisor too, for you will see below it reads how he attended to Winston Churchill, and he had also formerly assisted King George VI too. It was in 1952 he became the official surgeon to Queen Elizabeth II. The letter is approx 10" x 8" folded strongly twice where posted, and some small or lighter places to allow but otherwise great condition so graded vg+. A truly one off opportunity and you will never get a better opportunity for such a historic signing than on his headed paper & a must for any collector of Royal memorabilia.
This has come from the private collection from the estate of Doctor Elston Grey-Turner CBE MC TD (16 August 1916 – 20 January 1984) who was a British medical doctor who served in World War II and was on the staff of the British Medical Association for many years. He joined the Royal Army Medical Corps and served as regimental medical officer to the 2nd Battalion of the Coldstream Guards 1942–1945. He was awarded the Territorial Decoration, and also the Military Cross.
