CHAU3154 This is an antique 1934 hand signed letter from Alfred John Wareing (26 October 1876 – 11 April 1942) who was an English actor-manager, a pioneer of the repertory theatre in Britain and an authority on the plays of Shakespeare. The letter is sent to 1900s classical music book author M Montagu Nathan from The League Of Audiences which was Alfred Wareings official headed paper when signed and sent in 1934 and details of the proof he was sending Montagu Nathan. Alfred Wareing as he is recognised as one of the leading early authorities on the plays of Shakespeare. He helped W. E. Henley with the sixvolume "Edinburgh Edition" of the complete works (1901) and from 1931 to 1933 was the librarian of the Shakespeare Memorial Library, Stratford-on-Avon. His extensive career can be found on Wicki and he was famous too for being the founder of the Glasgow Repertory Theatre in 1909. Bar folded once where posted and a little border aged & some light places this is in great condition, and a highly specialist antique autograph opportunity for any theatre or Shakespeare collector.
